A charge from APPLE.COM/BILL on your statement
APPLE.COM/BILL is Apple billing the card on an Apple Account. Apple says it appears when you buy an app, music, a movie or other content, when a subscription renews, and when a family member buys something.1 It is not the name of one product: Apple can group several purchases and subscriptions into one charge.2
Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com with your Apple Account and look for the amount. If Family Sharing is on, the family organizer can pick each member’s account from the Apple Account menu. If the amount is not there, try every Apple Account you have.1 A subscription is cancelled in Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.4 If no account of yours or your family’s shows it, go to your bank.
What it looks like on a real statement
The State of Delaware publishes every purchase its employees make on state cards, with the
merchant name as the bank received it. When we counted on 6 October 2026, the name
APPLE.COM/BILL appeared on 1,210 lines, from 6 November 2019 to 26 August 2026,
from 34 state departments and school districts. Of those, 17 are refunds.6
| What the statement said | Lines | When |
|---|---|---|
APPLE.COM/BILL | 1,210 | 6 November 2019 to 26 August 2026, still in use. 866 are $0.99 or $2.99, 94 are $9.99 |
APL*ITUNES.COM/BILL, APL* ITUNES.COM/BILL | 159 | 9 July 2017 to 26 October 2019. The older name for the same kind of charge, see below |
PP*APPLE.COM/BILL | 5 | 6 April 2020 to 25 October 2024 |
APPLE.COM/US | 1,345 | 15 September 2019 to 26 August 2026. 1,179 of 1,322 charges are whole-dollar amounts, from $8 to $29,012.40 |
APL*APPLE ONLINE STORE | 568 | 1 July 2017 to 7 November 2019. Whole-dollar amounts such as $49, $79, $99 |
Apple’s own page about the name covers only apple.com/bill. It does not say what
APPLE.COM/US or APL*APPLE ONLINE STORE mean.1
What the data shows is that those two carry whole-dollar amounts up to $29,012.40, while
APPLE.COM/BILL is mostly under $5. That is a pattern in the numbers, not a
statement from Apple or the state about what was bought.6
The name changed in late 2019, and the same subscriptions carried over
If your statement from before November 2019 says APL*ITUNES.COM/BILL, it is the
same kind of charge. In the Delaware data, four recurring charges stop under the old name and
start under the new one one month later, at the same amount:6
- Department of Transportation, Maintenance Districts: $0.99 on 11 October 2019, then $0.99 on 11 November 2019
- Delmar School District: $9.99 on 12 October 2019, then $9.99 on 11 November 2019
- Auditor of Accounts: $2.99 on 21 October 2019, then $2.99 on 21 November 2019
- Cape Henlopen School District: $0.99 on 26 October 2019, then $0.99 on 26 November 2019
The first line under APPLE.COM/BILL anywhere in the data is 6 November 2019 and
the last under the old name is 26 October 2019, so the switch happened between those dates.
That is our reading of the numbers; Apple does not date it on the page we read.6
Why so many charges are $0.99 and $2.99
Of the 1,210 lines, 538 are $0.99 and 328 are $2.99. Apple’s iCloud+ price list for the United States shows $0.99 a month for 50 GB, $2.99 for 200 GB and $9.99 for 2 TB.5 Those amounts match, and one state park office alone accounts for 199 lines of $0.99, but the data does not say what any line bought, and other apps are priced at $0.99 and $2.99 as well. Use the amount to search your own purchase history, as Apple suggests, rather than to guess.2
The monthly ones keep a steady rhythm. The Department of Natural Resources’ Waste and Hazardous Substances office paid $0.99 on 74 lines from November 2020 to August 2026, with a gap of 30 or 31 days between most of them.6
Refunds, and how long they took
Apple says to sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose "I’d like to" and then "Request a refund", pick a reason and the item, and wait 24 to 48 hours for an update. A charge that is still pending cannot be refunded yet, and refund eligibility varies by country or region.3
The Delaware data has 17 refund lines under APPLE.COM/BILL. We matched each to
the charge it reversed, same office and same amount. Gaps run from 0 days (an $79.99 refund
on 31 May 2026, the day of the charge) to 58 days ($28.99, charged 3 June 2020 and refunded 31
July 2020). Most were within 25 days. The data does not say why any of them was refunded.6
How to find it and stop it
- See what the charge was Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and search for the amount. Click or tap the purchase date for the full receipt, including tax. On an iPhone, the same list is in the App Store: tap your photo, then Apps & Purchase History, then Purchase History. It shows the last 90 days by default.2
- Check the other accounts If the charge is not there and you have more than one Apple Account, sign in to each. Search your email for "receipt from Apple". If you share a card with a family member, ask them.13
- Cancel what you do not want On an iPhone or iPad: Settings, tap your name, Subscriptions, tap the subscription, Cancel Subscription. If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, it is already cancelled.4 Apple’s page does not say the charge stops at once; it says to cancel to prevent future charges.1
- If it is not on any account of yours, go to your bank Ask your bank to dispute the charge and ask what its deadline is. It depends on the bank, the card network and the reason. Apple also warns that an email about a purchase may not be from Apple and may not reflect real charges, so check the amount on your statement before you react to an email.2
Is this a scam?
The name is real: Apple’s own support page describes apple.com/bill, and
the Delaware data alone has more than a thousand ordinary charges under it.16
A real name does not make every charge yours. If the amount is on none of your accounts, it
may be a family member, a second account or someone using your card. That is a question for
your bank.
Why this page is on a site about held money
This site records payment companies that hold back money that belongs to someone else. Apple is not in the incident record; this page is here so that people searching for a name on a statement find the answer. Other charges that renew by themselves show up as DROPBOX*, ADOBE *ADOBE, OPENAI *CHATGPT SUBSCR, NETFLIX.COM and CANVA*. Other lines are in the table of statement names. Apps and subscriptions bought on an Android phone or through YouTube show up as GOOGLE * instead. A Meta Verified subscription bought on the web, not on an iPhone, shows up under Meta’s own names, such as FACEBK *META VERIFIED.
