A charge from ZOOM.US or ZOOM.COM 888-799-9666 on your statement
ZOOM.US 888-799-9666 and ZOOM.COM 888-799-9666 are charges from
Zoom, the video meeting company, almost always for a paid plan that renews
every month or every year. The number is Zoom’s own: its contact page lists +1.888.799.9666,
with billing on extension 2.4 Since December 2024 the
name on statements has said ZOOM.COM instead of ZOOM.US.
If you, your job, your school or someone in your household uses Zoom, sign in at zoom.us, open Plans and billing, and look for a renewal on that date. If nobody you know has a paid Zoom plan, call your bank. Zoom’s page called “Disputing fraudulent charges on a Zoom account” gives one instruction, to contact Zoom Support,1 and Zoom says live phone support is “limited to account owners and admins only”.4
What it looks like on a real statement
The State of Delaware publishes every purchase its employees make on state cards, with the merchant name as the bank received it. When we counted on 7 October 2026, the five Zoom names below made 3,547 lines from 51 state departments, schools and other public bodies, from October 2017 to August 2026.8
| What the statement said | Lines | When |
|---|---|---|
ZOOM.US 888-799-9666 | 2,336 | 24 May 2020 to 1 December 2024, plus one line on 18 December 2024 |
ZOOM.COM 888-799-9666 | 583 | 4 December 2024 to 26 August 2026 |
ZOOM.US | 559 | 14 October 2017 to 3 November 2021, almost all before December 2020 |
ZOOM.COM 888-799-966 | 65 | 20 December 2024 to 20 August 2026. The same name with the last digit cut off |
PAYPAL *ZOOMVIDEOCO | 4 | April 2021 to November 2023. Zoom paid through PayPal, see PAYPAL * |
The most common amounts were $14.99 (512 lines), $149.90 (313) and $15.99 (191). Some public bodies paid much more, for many licenses on one card.8 If you bought Zoom in the Apple App Store, the charge reads APPLE.COM/BILL instead, and Zoom says to cancel it with Apple or Google, not on the Zoom website.3
The name changed twice
2020: the phone number was added. Until spring 2020 the line read only
ZOOM.US. The first ZOOM.US 888-799-9666 line is dated 24 May 2020, and
both names ran side by side through November. In December 2020 the old name appears 2 times and
the new one 74 times. The same subscriptions carry on: the Delaware Public Archives paid $14.99
on 15 October and 15 November 2020 as ZOOM.US, then $14.99 on 15 December 2020 and
15 January 2021 with the number added.8
December 2024: ZOOM.US became ZOOM.COM. Zoom announced
on 25 November 2024 that its official name, “Zoom Video Communications Inc.”, was changing to Zoom
Communications.7 In the state’s data the last
ZOOM.US 888-799-9666 lines but one are dated 1 December 2024, and the first
ZOOM.COM 888-799-9666 line is dated 4 December. Twenty-seven subscriptions in the data
paid the same amount under both names. The House of the General Assembly paid $1,851.64 on the
15th of September, October and November 2024 as ZOOM.US, then on the 15th of
December, January and February as ZOOM.COM. The state libraries paid $40.00 on the 7th
of August, September and November 2024 as ZOOM.US, then on the 7th of December,
January and February as ZOOM.COM.8
So if your older statements say ZOOM.US and the newer ones say
ZOOM.COM, the data shows the same subscription moving to the new name, not a second
one. Zoom does not say on its pages when the statement name changed; the dates above are from
the ledger.
Did the price go up a dollar?
In the state’s data, $14.99 is the monthly amount until 26 February 2023, and from 1 March 2023 the monthly amount is $15.99. Five offices that had paid $14.99 each month paid $15.99 in March 2023, four of them on the same day of the month as before.8 Zoom’s terms say it “may change prices for the Services at any time” and will give at least 30 calendar days’ notice before your charges change.5 Zoom also lists other reasons a bill can be higher than the last one: cloud storage over the plan’s limit, add-ons, licenses added in the middle of a billing cycle, a discount or promotional price that ended, and tax.2
Will Zoom give the money back?
Not by default. Zoom’s terms say all payments are “non-cancelable for the Initial Subscription Term or the then-current Renewal Term” and “final and non-refundable, unless otherwise agreed to by Zoom, required by Law, or set forth in your Order Form.”5 Its cancellation page says: “Canceling your plan does not automatically generate a refund.”3
Refunds do happen. The state’s data has 76 Zoom refund lines. Twenty-five of them match an earlier charge of the same amount from the same office; 13 of those came back within six days of the charge, 20 within three weeks, and the slowest 328 days later. The other 51 are amounts that match no earlier charge from the same office.8 Zoom says that when you downgrade or remove licenses you get a prorated credit, which “typically appears on your next invoice”.2 We cannot tell from the data which of the 51 were credits like that.
How to find it and stop it
- Find the account Check your email for a Zoom receipt on that date; the account is the address it was sent to. Sign in at zoom.us, click your profile picture, then Plans and billing. Your plans and their renewal dates are listed there.3
- Cancel before the renewal date Next to the plan, click Cancel Plan and confirm. Any add-ons have to be canceled first. The plan stays active until the end of the term you paid for, and you are not charged at the next renewal.3 Only the account owner, an admin, or a user with billing rights can do this.3
- If there is no Cancel Plan button Zoom says that means self-service cancellation is not available for the account, for example a plan bought through a sales quote or managed by an organization. Contact the account executive or type “cancel” in the Zoom Virtual Agent chat.3 A plan bought in the Apple App Store or Google Play is canceled there.3
- If it is not your account, go to your bank Ask your bank to dispute the charge and ask what its deadline is. It depends on the bank, the card network and the reason.
Can you call 888-799-9666?
You can call, and a virtual agent answers 24 hours a day. Billing (extension 2) is staffed in English Monday to Thursday 1:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday 1:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Pacific time.4 A person on the phone is harder to reach. Zoom’s contact page says live phone support is “limited to account owners and admins only” and requires your Personal Meeting ID and host key, or your email address and a one-time password.4 Zoom’s pricing table lists live phone support on its paid plans for “Accounts with subscriptions over $200.00 USD/month”, and live chat for accounts over $10.00 a month.6
If the charge is on no account of yours, you have no meeting ID or host key to give, and your bank is the place to dispute it.
Is this a scam?
The names are real: the Delaware data has 3,547 of them, paid with the state’s cards,8 and the number on the line is the one Zoom publishes.4 A real name does not make every charge yours. A school or employer account that renewed on a card you once used, a family member’s plan, or someone else using your card all look the same on a statement. If you find no Zoom account that paid on that date, treat it as a charge you did not make.
Why this page is on a site about held money
This site records payment companies that hold back money that belongs to someone else. Zoom is not in the incident record; the closest part of this page is the rule that a renewal you did not mean to keep is final unless Zoom agrees otherwise. Other work subscriptions show up as DROPBOX*, CANVA*, ADOBE * and MICROSOFT*STORE. Other lines are in the table of statement names.
