A charge from HLU*HULUPLUS or HULU 877-8244858 on your statement

HLU*HULUPLUS, HULU 877-8244858 CA and HLU*HULU followed by a long number are charges for a Hulu subscription. Hulu charges at the start of every billing period, so a monthly plan comes back on the same day each month.⁵ One subscription in public records has used all three names.⁶

What it looks like on a real statement

The State of Delaware publishes every purchase its employees make on state cards, with the merchant name as the bank received it. When we counted on 9 October 2026, Hulu made 82 lines from six state offices, from December 2017 to August 2026.⁶

What HULU.COM/BILL CA and the phone numbers mean

The table shows only the name. On a full statement line, the part after the name is where a city would go, and Hulu puts its billing address there. One cardholder reported in June 2025 that the charge read just HULU in the card app and “HLU*HULUPLUS HULU.COM/BILL CA” in the transaction details; another reported HULU SANTA MONICA CA on the website and the PDF statement for May 2025.⁷ Those are their own reports. Both names are Hulu.

877-824-4858, the number in HULU 877-8244858 CA, is the phone number Hulu’s Help Center gives under Contact Us, Account & Billing, Billing: “Call Hulu. Talk to Hulu Support.”⁸ 855-738-6978 is a different Hulu number: the Help Center gives it for privacy requests, not for billing.⁹ We did not find it on any of Delaware’s 82 Hulu lines.⁶

One subscription, four names

The Delaware Emergency Management Agency has paid for Hulu on the 13th of every month since August 2020. In April 2023 the line read HLU*HULU and a number; in May 2023, HULU 877-8244858 CA; in October 2024, HLU*HULUPLUS; in May 2025, for one month, just HULU. The date and amount carried on through each change.⁶

The number in the old HLU*HULU lines is not an account number you can look up: all 34 of this agency’s lines had a different one. Their first nine digits, 175582072, stayed the same from August 2020 to April 2023.⁶

Why the amount went up

The same subscription, month by month:⁶

The data does not name the plan. The small line in September 2020 followed by a higher monthly amount fits what Hulu describes for an add-on taken in the middle of a billing cycle: a prorated charge up to the next billing date, then the full price.¹ Hulu also names taxes, an ended promotion and a plan change as reasons a monthly total moves.²

The next change is dated. Hulu’s price page lists new prices for sign-ups from 23 September 2026 and says that anyone who signed up before then “will see a price change in your billing cycle on or after October 21, 2026.”⁴ Its terms say Hulu will try to email you before a price change.⁵

A $1 charge, two charges, or a charge after canceling

About $1, pending. When you sign up or add a card, Hulu may place an authorization hold, “typically for $1, but you may see other amounts”. Hulu says it is “generally reversed immediately”; some banks take 3 to 5 business days to drop it.²

Two charges. Hulu’s own causes: a plan change or add-on in the middle of the month, or more than one active subscription under different email addresses.²

After canceling. On your Account page, “Your Next Charge” means the subscription is still active; “Your subscription is about to cancel” means it is canceled and runs to the end of the period; “Renew your Hulu Subscription” means it was fully canceled, and Hulu suggests you may have another Hulu account.³ A new card number does not stop it: Hulu’s terms let it get your new card details from your card issuer and keep charging.⁵

Will Hulu give the money back?

Not by default. Hulu’s subscriber agreement says: “we do not refund or credit for partially used subscription terms and/or billing periods”, though it may on a case-by-case basis “in our sole and absolute discretion.”⁵ When Hulu does refund, the refund shows in Billing History and may take 7 to 10 business days to reach your bank statement.¹ There are no Hulu refunds among the 82 lines in Delaware’s data.⁶

How to find it and stop it

1. Find the account Sign in at hulu.com/account and choose View History next to Billing History.¹ Try every email address in the household.
2. Check who bills it Hulu shows charges on its own Account page when Hulu, Amazon or Roku bills them. If you pay through Disney, Spotify, T-Mobile or Verizon, that company has the record.¹
3. Cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern the day before On hulu.com/account, click Cancel. Hulu’s terms say you must cancel by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on the day before the term ends to avoid the next charge. A subscription bought through a third party is canceled with that company.⁵ Look for “Your subscription is about to cancel” and a confirmation email.³
4. If it is not your account, go to your bank Ask your bank to dispute the charge and ask what its deadline is. It depends on the bank, the card network and the reason.

Is this a scam?

The names are real: Delaware paid 82 of them with state cards.⁶ A real name does not make every charge yours. Start from your Hulu Account page or Hulu’s Help Center, not from a phone number found by searching the name. If no account you can sign in to shows the charge, treat it as one you did not make.

Why this page is on a site about held money

This site records payment companies that hold back money that belongs to someone else. Hulu is not in the incident record; the closest part of this page is the $1 hold and the no-refund term.
