A charge from CCI*HOTEL RES on your statement

CCI*HOTEL RES is a hotel room booked through a website that is not the hotel’s own. CCI is Consumer Club, Inc., the old name of Getaroom, a travel agent in Dallas that charged for rooms sold on its own site and on other booking sites.1 The hotel’s name is not on the line. A second, smaller charge often sits next to it: the booking site’s service fee.57

The short answer

Search your email for a booking confirmation with the same amount. If you find one, cancel or ask for a refund through the site that sent it; for a Getaroom booking, call 1-800-468-3578, the number Getaroom gives for existing reservations.2 Whether you get money back depends on the cancellation policy you picked when you booked, not on the hotel. If nobody you know booked a room, it is a card problem: call your bank.

What it looks like on a real statement

Two public card statements show the room charge and the fee as separate lines a day or two apart.6

Marlboro County, South Carolina 8 February 2023 CCi*HOTEL RESERVATION 855-707-6654 TX $541.52

One person who booked a hotel room by phone in May 2023 posted their statement lines in a review: HOTELBOOKINGSERVFEE UT 800-727-**** $19.99 www.reservationcounter.com and, the next day, CCI*HOTEL RESERVATION TX 855-707-**** $463.35 www.getaroom.com. They wrote that they cancelled with the hotel and ten months later still had no refund.8 That is their account, not something we have checked.

The State of Delaware publishes every purchase made on its employees’ cards, with the merchant name as the bank received it. When we counted on 2 October 2026 it had 163 CCI* hotel lines, from July 2017 to August 2024.7

CCI*HOTEL TRIPAD-GETA, CCI*HOTELRESERVATI, CCI*CCI*HOTELRESERVATI 3 One each: October 2017, July 2023, August 2023

The words after CCI* point to the site where the room was booked, not to the hotel: RESERVATIONS.COM, RESCOUNTER, TRIPAD. Of the 131 charges, the largest was $4,331.46 and half were under $500. The last charge in the data is from 29 August 2023; the last refund is from 6 August 2024.7

Why there are two charges

Some booking sites take their fee as a charge of its own. Reservation Counter’s help page says its service fee "is itemized separately on your credit card billing statement", and that it is "not the merchant of record for your reservation": the room is charged by someone else.5 In Delaware’s data, 57 of the 131 CCI* hotel charges had a fee line, HOTELBOOKINGSERVFEE or WWW.RESERVATIONS.COM, in the same office within two days.7

The fee has gone up. In Delaware’s data the HOTELBOOKINGSERVFEE line was usually $12.99 from 2017 to early 2022, $14.99 during 2022, $15.99 from October 2022 to September 2024, and $17.99 from November 2024. Since the start of 2025, 68 of its 74 charges were $17.99.7

If your line has no CCI in it

Getaroom has stopped selling rooms. By July 2024 its home page sent visitors to Priceline; by January 2025 it read "Getaroom.com no longer accepts hotel reservations." It still gives a number for existing reservations.23 In Delaware’s data the room charge that comes with the fee now looks different: 38 of the 42 charges named HOTEL RES- and a hotel, such as HOTEL RES-HILTON GARDE or HOTEL RES-HOLIDAY INN, came within a day of a HOTELBOOKING*SERVFEE line in the same office. They run from February 2024 to August 2026. Here the hotel’s name is on the line, with the whole line cut to 22 characters, so it is easy to take it for a charge from the hotel itself.7

How to find it and get money back

  1. Find the booking Search your email, including spam, for the amount and for “reservation”, “confirmation”, “getaroom”, “reservation counter” and “reservations.com”. Several reviewers who booked by phone say they thought they were talking to the hotel.8 The two charges are one booking. Check the cancellation policy at the bottom of the confirmation before you call anyone.5
  2. Cancel through the site that took the booking, not the hotel Getaroom: 1-800-468-3578.2 Reservation Counter: the Manage My Reservation page on its site, or 833-372-2839. It says a cancelled reservation "cannot be reinstated", that a non-refundable booking gets no refund, and that its service fee is non-refundable.5 Reservations.com’s terms say it will refund a non-refundable booking only if the hotel waives the charge in full, and may keep a 3% transaction fee.4
  3. If the rate was non-refundable, get the hotel to agree in writing Reservation Counter says that if the hotel approves a refund, it needs "an email from the hotel stating the refund approval with the employee’s name and position" before it will refund.5 Ask the hotel for exactly that, and forward it.
  4. Go to your bank if the site will not fix it, or if nobody booked a room Dispute the charge with your bank, and ask what its deadline is. Know what the booking sites say about disputes first. Getaroom says that if you dispute it may cancel the reservation, and that it will fight disputes over non-cancellable bookings.1 Reservation Counter says that once you file a dispute "we can no longer work on their case".5 So cancel or settle a stay you still want before you dispute, not after. If nobody you know booked a room, ask the bank to cancel the card too.

How long a refund takes

Reservation Counter says refunds are released within 24 business hours of approval and then "typically" take 3 to 10 business days to reach the card.5 Getaroom’s terms say a price-match refund may take "up to 30 days or the next billing cycle".1 In Delaware’s data, 25 of the 32 CCI* credits match an earlier charge of the same amount to the same department. Half came back within 10 days of the charge; the slowest took 69 days.7 The fee came back too, sometimes: 14 of the service-fee lines are refunds, although Reservation Counter calls the fee non-refundable.57

Why it cost more than the room price you saw

Getaroom’s terms say its prices combine the hotel’s rate with "the marketing membership and service fee charged by Travel Agent", and that "the price quoted on the web site for hotel stays does not include all fees and taxes". Hotel resort fees, parking and city taxes can still be charged at the hotel on top.1 Reservation Counter says it charges "the entire amount at the time of booking", which is why the money left your account weeks before the stay.5

Is this a scam?

The company is real. Getaroom’s terms name it as Priceline Partner Services, doing business as Getaroom.com, formerly Consumer Club, Inc., at 3010 LBJ Freeway in Dallas, and say it has been an approved travel agent since 2005.1 The complaint people make is a different one: that they believed they were booking with the hotel, and found out about the extra fees or the no-refund rule afterwards.8 If there is a booking behind the charge, it is a real booking. If there is none, it is a card problem and belongs with your bank.

Why this page is on a site about held money

This site records payment companies that hold back money that belongs to someone else. Getaroom is not in the incident record; this page is here so that people searching for a name on a statement find the answer. A ticket for the conference you booked the room for may show as EB * (Eventbrite) or FSP* (Fullsteam); a utility or TV bill paid online, as SPI* (Speedpay). Since August 2025 the same four letters also start CCI*CONSTANT-CONTACT, an email newsletter service with nothing to do with hotels. Other lines are in the table of statement names.
