A charge from INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE on your statement

INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE, INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS and the older INTUIT *QB ONLINE are Intuit, the company behind QuickBooks accounting software. Intuit says these charges are "typically for subscription fees or service usage".1 A QuickBooks Online plan renews by itself at the end of each month or year until it is cancelled.3 The web address printed next to the name, CL.INTUIT.COM, opens Intuit’s charge lookup form.2

The short answer

Put the card, the exact amount and the date into Intuit’s charge lookup at accounts.intuit.com/app/oicl.12 To stop the next charge, cancel in the Intuit Account Manager under Products & billing.4 Intuit’s terms say it does not refund cancellations or part periods; an annual plan can be returned within 60 days.35 If nobody you know uses QuickBooks, go to your bank.

What it looks like on a real statement

Intuit’s help page about these charges does not list the names they appear under.1 The State of Delaware publishes every purchase its employees make on state cards, with the merchant name as the bank received it. When we counted on 5 October 2026, 763 lines had a merchant name starting with INTUIT, from 1 July 2017 to 20 August 2026, from 43 state offices, colleges and school districts.6

Intuit lines in Delaware’s card data, 2017–2026
What the statement said Lines When
INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE 260 1 July 2022 to 20 August 2026, still in use. Amounts up to $1,242
INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS 203 12 July 2017 to 20 August 2026, still in use, from 30 offices. Amounts up to $17,998
INTUIT *CHECKS / FORMS 103 1 July 2017 to 6 November 2025. Amounts from $11.08 to $1,820.99
INTUIT *QB ONLINE 87 5 July 2017 to 5 May 2019
INTUIT *TSHEETS 56 4 December 2021 to 31 July 2026, one school. Amounts from $212 to $816
INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS ONLINE, INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS ONL, INTUIT * 24, 4 and 18 April 2021 to June 2022
Others: INTUIT *QBOOKS/PROLINE, INTUIT *18004INTUIT, INTUIT *VP 8009258364, INTUIT QUICKBOOKS 8 2018 to 2026

Delaware’s data shortens the line to the name. Public statements from two other places show the full line. The Consolidated Mosquito Abatement District in California had INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS CL.INTUIT.COM CA for $1,399 on 3 May 2025, which its own ledger calls a "Quickbooks Annual Subscription", and three lines of INTUIT *CHECKS / FORMS CL.INTUIT.COM CA on 2 May 2025, $538.23, $255.04 and $103.50, which the ledger lists as one $896.77 purchase of "Blank checks, envelopes".7 The City of Brooksville, Florida, had DEBIT CARD RECURRING PYMT INTUIT *QuickBooks 02-23 CL.INTUIT.COM CA for $1,149 on its February 2026 bank statement.8

So a charge for checks can arrive as several lines, and INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS can be a once-a-year charge. 18004INTUIT is Intuit’s phone number, 800-4-INTUIT.5 TSheets is the old name of QuickBooks Time: tsheets.com now forwards to QuickBooks’ time tracking page.9 We do not know what PROLINE or VP stand for.

The same plan under five names

Do not take a different name for a different charge. Two school accounts in the Delaware data went through the same five names on the same monthly plan:6

One monthly QuickBooks plan, five statement names, Delaware card data
Name on the line Odyssey Charter Brandywine School District
INTUIT *QB ONLINE to 5 May 2019 to 21 February 2019
INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS from 5 June 2019 from 21 March 2019
INTUIT * from 31 May 2021 from 20 June 2021
INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS ONLINE from 1 October 2021 from 20 September 2021
INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE from 1 July 2022, still in use from 20 July 2022, still in use

At Brandywine the amount stayed the same across every switch. Some accounts still get INTUIT *QUICKBOOKS for some charges and INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE for others in the same months.6 Look for the amount and the day of the month, not for last month’s exact wording.

Why the price goes up once a year

Intuit’s terms say it "may change the price for recurring subscription fees from time to time with notice to you", and that a new price takes effect "at the start of the next subscription period following the date of the price change".3 In the Delaware data, monthly QuickBooks plans at unrelated schools went up once a year in each of the last three years, most often in July or August, each on its own billing day:6

Monthly INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE charges, Delaware card data
Who paid Before 2024 2025 2026
Brandywine School District $90 $99 from 20 August $115 from 20 July $140 from 20 August
Odyssey Charter $85 $99 from 2 November $115 from 2 July $140 from 2 August
Colonial School District $200 $235 from 12 August $275 from 12 July $340 from 12 August
Woodbridge School District $60 $65 from 4 August $75 from 4 October $85 from 4 August

Brandywine’s monthly charge went from $99 to $140 in two years, 41% more. The yearly rise goes back further: Brandywine’s and Odyssey’s plans both rose in August 2021, from $70 to $80 and from $40 to $50.6 The data does not show the notices Intuit sent.

The same name can also carry yearly charges on top of the monthly plan. Woodbridge School District paid $75 a month and, under the same INTUIT *QBOOKS ONLINE, a charge on 14 March and another on 20 December each year: $410.40 on 14 March 2026 and $1,242 on 20 December 2025.6 Intuit’s terms say that for annual plans it sends a reminder with the price 30 to 60 days before the term ends.3

Refunds do happen. The Delaware data has 23 negative Intuit lines, from $10 to $6,685.88; for example, Woodbridge was charged $970 on 14 March 2024 and got $639.31 back on 21 March.6 The data does not say why any of them were refunded.

What the terms say about cancelling and refunds

The QuickBooks Online terms say: "You may cancel your subscription at any time (but you may not receive a refund)." A cancellation takes effect "the day after the last day of the current subscription period", you keep using the service until then, and "We do not provide refunds or credits for any cancellations or partial subscription period." Cancelling also does not end what you already owe: it does not "entitle you to any refund".3

Intuit’s return policy gives a 60-day money-back guarantee on QuickBooks Desktop and on annual QuickBooks Online subscriptions. It does not apply to monthly QuickBooks Online plans or to "Subscription renewals".5

Two more things in the terms explain a charge you did not expect. If your card details change, Intuit "may participate in programs supported by your card provider to try to update your payment information", and you authorize it to keep billing the updated card.3 And deleting the app does not stop the plan: "removing an Intuit mobile app from your device may not cancel your subscription".3

How to find it and stop it

  1. Find the account Use Intuit’s charge lookup with the card or bank account number, the amount and the date. Intuit lists QuickBooks Online, Desktop, Time, Payroll and Checks & Supplies among what it covers, with a note that the form shows charges processed on or after 27 May 2020.1 Intuit also emails a notice every time a QuickBooks Online fee is billed, so search your email for "Intuit" and the amount.1 On a work or club card, ask whoever does the books.
  2. Cancel the plan Sign in to the Intuit Account Manager, choose Products & billing, then the company name, then Cancel next to the product, and follow the steps until you get a confirmation. A plan bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play is cancelled with them. After cancelling, you can read your data for one year.4
  3. Ask for the money back For an annual plan within 60 days, use Intuit’s online refund request form or call 800-4-INTUIT (800-446-8848).5 For a monthly plan the terms promise no refund, so a refund is Intuit’s choice; write down what you asked for and when.3
  4. If nobody you know uses QuickBooks, go to your bank Intuit’s lookup asks why you are looking up the charge, and Intuit’s help page says to use it for a charge you "don’t recognize at all".2 If it finds nothing you know, ask your bank to dispute the charge and ask what its deadline is. It depends on the bank, the card network and the reason, and missing it can end your options. Ask for a new card number too.

Is this a scam?

The name is real: these lines are Intuit’s own, and the Delaware data alone has more than seven hundred ordinary charges under them.6 That does not make every such charge wanted. If you call about it, use the number on Intuit’s own return policy, 800-446-8848, not one from a search result or an ad.5

Why this page is on a site about held money

This site records payment companies that hold back money that belongs to someone else. Intuit is not in the incident record; this page is here so that people searching for a name on a statement find the answer. Intuit also owns Mailchimp, whose plans show up as MAILCHIMP *MISC. Other business tools that bill by themselves are SMK*SURVEYMONKEY, DNH*GODADDY and STAMPS.COM (a monthly fee for printing postage, billed after the month is over). Other lines are in the table of statement names.
