A SHEIN charge on your card: an order, a refund that came back in pieces, or something you did not buy
In the card lines of one US state, the shopping site SHEIN prints under four names, and they were in use in the
same months: SHEIN.COM, SHEINUSSERVICES LLC. with a full stop at the end,
SHEIN US SERVICES LLC with spaces, and plain SHEIN.3
The terms of the SHEIN site say it is provided by “SHEIN US Services, LLC”.1
One department’s cards carry all four names. So a line that does not look like the last one is not for that reason a
different company, and it is not for that reason a stranger’s charge either.
Look in the email accounts you use for an order confirmation from SHEIN, and in the My Orders section of the account; the terms say a purchase made through an account is listed there.1 A refund can print as many small lines instead of one: in the data below, one order’s refund came back as 17 lines.3 SHEIN’s refund page says a refund to a credit or debit card is processed by SHEIN within 24 hours and then takes the bank “5–10 business days (sometimes up to 30 days)”.2 If you have no account and no order, tell SHEIN at once, as its terms ask, and dispute the charge with your card company in writing within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent.17
What the state’s card data shows
The State of Delaware publishes every purchase its employees make on state cards. Its data has 154 lines with
SHEIN in the name, from 3 June 2021 to 10 September 2026, on the cards of nine public bodies: departments,
school districts and charter schools. They are 103 charges, from 3.89 to 588.24 and 16,112.60 in all, and 51 credits
that add up to 1,290.06.3 By form of the name:
| Form of the name | What is in the data |
|---|---|
SHEIN.COM | 123 lines from 3 June 2021 to 10 September 2026: 83 charges and 40 credits, on the cards of eight bodies. The only form in 2021 and 2022, and the only one after 14 April 2025. |
SHEIN | 2 lines, 17 March 2023 (217.22) and 12 October 2023 (113.06), both on one division’s cards. |
SHEIN US SERVICES LLC | 3 lines from 19 September to 6 October 2023: 279.60, 206.32 and 190.87. |
SHEINUSSERVICES LLC. | 26 lines from 26 February 2024 to 14 April 2025: 15 charges, from 36.80 to 588.24, and 11 credits, on the cards of five bodies. In April, May and August to October 2024, and in April 2025, it appears in the same months as SHEIN.COM. |
These are public-body cards, so the amounts are not those of a personal order, and the data does not say what was bought; the merchant category on the lines is clothing and department stores.3 Three things can still be counted.
- One charge, then 17 credits. On 30 March 2024 one division was charged 221.30 as
SHEIN.COM. The next day, 31 March, its cards show 17 credits, from 1.52 to 58.30, and they add up to exactly 221.30. On 29 July 2024 another division was charged 234.67 asSHEINUSSERVICES LLC.; on 3 August its cards show 11 credits that add up to 234.67. Nothing in the data says these were refunds of an order, or what the 17 and the 11 were: that is what the sums suggest, not a finding.3 - Thirteen charges, then thirteen credits. On 21 October 2024 one office’s cards show 13 charges from 3.89 to 27.28, together 175.43. On 25 October, four days later, they show 13 credits of the same 13 amounts, together 175.43. The data does not say whether the thirteen were one order or thirteen. It does show that a run of small SHEIN lines on one day is something these cards have seen, and have seen undone.3
- A few refunds are one line. Of the other 10 credits, three equal a charge made 0 to 6 days before (181.46 after 4 days in May 2022, 198.48 after 6 days in August 2022, 190.99 on the same day in September 2022); the other seven, from 6.65 to 20.52, have no matching charge in the data.3
The amount that leaves the card and the amount that comes back are therefore not always one line each. If you are matching a statement to an order, add up the lines of one day before you decide that a charge is missing or doubled.
What SHEIN’s own pages say
The terms of use, which the page showed as effective 21 October 2026, say that the site and app “are provided by SHEIN US Services, LLC” and that SHEIN is an online marketplace where users buy products from third-party sellers.1 For those sellers the contract is “entered into directly” between buyer and seller, though SHEIN may act as a “limited payments agent” to process payments on the seller’s behalf. The part of the terms on orders and purchases does not say what name a charge carries on a bank statement, so whether a seller’s order prints differently from SHEIN’s own is not something these pages answer.1 The same terms say:
- prices exclude shipping and local sales and use tax, which “will be charged to you separately” on each order, so one order can be more than one charge;
- an error in an order after payment should be taken “immediately” to the customer service platform;
- customers in the United States “cannot currently place order(s) that exceed $800 on a single day”;
- the user is responsible for activity under the account and agrees “to immediately notify us of any unauthorized use” of it.1
The refund page adds that a refund goes “to your SHEIN Wallet or original form of payment based on the refund method you selected”, and gives the time SHEIN takes and the time the bank takes for each way you paid:2 a credit or debit card, within 24 hours and then 5–10 business days, sometimes up to 30; PayPal, within 24 hours and then 2–5 business days; Klarna, within 24 hours and then 5–7 business days, sometimes up to 14; and SHEIN Wallet, within an hour. Most items can be returned within 30 days from the delivery date, and some third-party sellers set a different window.4 If you paid in instalments, SHEIN’s Afterpay page describes “4 payments every 2 weeks”, so a charge that comes back every second week for a month may be the instalments of one order and not a repeat.5
What cardholders say they found
These are their own accounts, not our findings, and we have not heard SHEIN’s side. On Apple Community, a person writing in December 2024 reports an unauthorized SHEIN charge of $49; 11 other people pressed “Me too”, and the replies shown tell them to contact the card issuer.6 On Trustpilot, the newest 200 one-star reviews of SHEIN, from 3 September to 25 October 2026, come from readers in many countries, since the page is for SHEIN as a whole. A word search finds “refund” in 101 of them and charge, bill, debit, deduct, took or taken in 44. That counts words in a sample, not complaints. Most of them are about refunds and parcels, not about a charge nobody recognises.8
- Money out at once, refund slow. A reviewer on 17 October 2026 says that over $200 of clothes came straight out of their checking account, that SHEIN asked for verification of the payment and, after three screenshots of the pending amount, said it could not validate it, and that they were told the refund would take 5 to 10 business days. Another, on 16 September, says an order of $1,813.86 never passed the verification, despite a bank statement, a photo of the transaction and photos of the goods, and that they were waiting for a full refund.8
- A refund that is less than the price. One reviewer, on 24 September 2026, says a returned skirt from a $13.42 order was refunded 9.43, and that the chat explained the difference as a shipping fee and a bank fee. Another, on 13 September, says that of £108.97 returned they received £10.89, after SHEIN called the items defective.8
- A refund that never shows. A reviewer on 19 September says they returned an order in May and, four months later, were still waiting, with bank statements sent and SHEIN’s own receipt saying the refund was done. Another, on 16 October, says that when they ask for money back it is sent as a gift card, and they want it in the bank.8
- A second payment. A reviewer on 4 October 2026 writes that “after paying for them they will take a double payment”. They give no amount or date for it.8
How to find out which one it is, and get the money back
- Read the line
SHEIN.COM,SHEIN,SHEIN US SERVICES LLCandSHEINUSSERVICES LLC.were all in use on the same state’s cards. The name does not say which order, or what the money was for. A line in some other name may still be a SHEIN order through PayPal, Klarna or Afterpay; for PayPal look under PAYPAL * first. - Find the order Search every inbox for “SHEIN” and “order confirmation”, and look in My Orders on the account. Ask whoever has used your card or phone. Add up the lines of the day: tax and shipping can be charged separately, and an order can print as more than one line.13
- If you paid in instalments Look at the Afterpay, Klarna, Affirm or Zip schedule on that provider’s own account. SHEIN’s page says Afterpay is four payments two weeks apart.5
- If you returned or cancelled Count the days from the refund email, not from the return, against SHEIN’s table: 5–10 business days for a card, up to 30 in some cases.2 Check whether the refund went to the SHEIN Wallet instead of the card, which the refund page says depends on the method you selected.2 Keep the refund email and the order number.
- If it is not yours at all Change the password, as the terms make you responsible for the account, and tell SHEIN’s customer service “immediately”, with the date and the amount of each line.1 Then call your card company and ask for the card to be replaced; the FTC says the dispute itself must be in writing.7
- If that does not settle it Send your card company a written dispute with your name, address, account number and what the mistake is, so that it reaches them within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. The company must acknowledge it in writing within 30 days and resolve it within 90, and you may withhold the disputed amount while it does.7 Say in it what you tried with SHEIN, with dates. A debit card has its own rules, which are the bank’s to explain.
Is this a scam?
The name is real: public bodies in one state have paid it on 154 lines across five years.3 The New York Attorney General announced on 12 October 2022 that it had secured $1.9 million in penalties and costs from Zoetop, which owns and operates SHEIN and ROMWE, over a data breach in which 39 million SHEIN account credentials were stolen. The Attorney General says Zoetop was told by its payment processor that its systems appeared to have been compromised, and that it falsely represented that it had seen no evidence that customer credit card information was taken.9 That was a breach from 2018, and it does not show that any charge on your card came from it. A SHEIN line you cannot match to an order is a reason to ask SHEIN and your card company, not a reason to keep paying.
Why this page is on a site about held money
This site records payment companies that hold back money that belongs to someone else. SHEIN is not in the incident record. This page is here because a SHEIN line can be a refund that comes back late or in pieces, and because its terms say it may act as a payments agent for other sellers. Other shopping lines are under TEMU.COM, AMAZON MKTP US, WALMART.COM, ETSY.COM* and EBAY O*. Other lines are in the table of statement names.
